Assistance for
Freeway
Emergencies
October
29, 2007
The Department of
Transportation is now providing assistance to motorists for
various freeway emergencies. The SAFE Patrol “assists
motorists by providing gasoline and oil for those in need,
add air to tires or change flat tires, provide a “jump” for
dead batteries, and other minor automotive repairs.”
In addition, the SAFE
Patrol will not only work to make the roads clean, but they
are trained to administer CPR and first aid if an accident
occurs.
Govenor Ernie Fletcher
presented the new Patrol trucks during the Kentucky State
Fair in August. Since the news of the SAFE Patrol became
public, SAFE operators participated in a 2 week training
course which taught them all the skills they will need in
order to successfully provide this great service to
Kentucky.
Times of Operation:
The SAFE Patrol operates from 7:00 A.M. and 11:00 P.M. seven
days a week, including weekends and holidays.
