Proclamation
To All To Whom These Presents Shall Come:
WHEREAS, February is designated as American Heart Month; and
WHEREAS, Diseases of the heart including coronary heart disease
and stroke, are the
nation’s leading cause of death. These diseases
are responsible for 37% of all female deaths in America,
claiming over 450,000 lives of women each year; and
WHEREAS, Stroke is a leading cause of serious, long–term
disability leaving an estimated 15-20% of survivors
permanently disabled; and
WHEREAS, Women are urged to know the factors of developing a
coronary heart disease including low blood levels of
“good” cholesterols, being physically inactive,
diabetes, and women 55 and older are at an increased
risk for developing a heart disease; and
WHEREAS, Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s
movement to increase the awareness of women across the
nation about the epidimic of heart disease and promote
important actions that can be taken to reduce their risk
of developing one of these deadly diseases.
Therefore, I, Rob Rothenburger, proudly proclaim
February 4th, 2011 as
Wear Red Day for Women
and urge the citizens of Shelby County to wear red in
an effort to increase cardiovascular
disease awareness throughout our community to protect as
many lives as possible and also to
represent those individuals who have survived or lost
their lives to this disease.
