Open
Burning Ban Order Issued for Shelby County
SHELBYVILLE,KY. In response to the extreme
temperatures and drought conditions that have plagued the
community for several weeks, Judge-Executive Rob
Rothenburger has issued an Open Burning Ban order for
Shelby County.
“We are
very concerned that any fire may be impossible to control
even by the most experienced individuals with the drought
conditions that have encompassed the majority of the county”
stated Rothenburger.
The Open
Burning Ban will remain in effect until the county receives
sufficient rainfall to mitigate the drought conditions that
are now present.
Under
Kentucky Revised Statutes, a County Judge-Executive may
executive an order banning any open burning if they feel
that a fire hazard exists in their communities.
