Fiscal Court Releases Funds for Senior Center
Renovations
June 20, 2008
SHELBYVILLE, KY. Shelby
County Judge-Executive Rob Rothenburger and members of
the Fiscal Court approved to release funds for
renovations at the Multi-purpose Community Action Senior
Citizens Building at the June 17th Fiscal
Court meeting.
Rusty Newton, Executive
Director of Multi-purpose CAA, requested that the court
release the $50,000 that had been set aside in the
2007-2008 budget to go toward a new center, however the
current economic situation has disallowed the progress
of this project. As a new fiscal year is set to begin
July 1, 2008, the court decided to release the $50,000
allotted in the current year’s budget to Multi-Purpose
CAA to improve the facility, tend to necessary repairs,
and possibly expand the available space.
Judge Rothenburger informed
the board that it has been over 25 years since major
renovations have been made at the Seniors Center.
Additionally he stated, “The $50,000 awarded to the
Shelby County Senior Center/ Multi-Purpose will provide
senior citizens with an up-to-date and newly renovated
facility for their enjoyment and activities.”
The multi-purpose agency
has been providing services for more than 25 years
throughout 23 communities and continuously strives to
identify needs of the community and to develop services
to meet those needs.
