Animal Care/Control Appreciation Week

Proclamation

WHEREAS, each day, Animal Control officers risk life and limb by going out into the public spending countless hours saving the lives of other community members thru public safety measures; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Shelby County Animal Care/Control Agency jointly work with other public health agencies to reduce the spread of rabies through preventive measures; and

WHEREAS, Animal Control personnel are dedicated to protecting the welfare of helpless animals and pets that are rescued from injury, disease and starvation; and

WHEREAS, hundreds of homeless animals in Shelby County are given sanctuary from an educated society that allows multiplication and then literally casts off these poor creatures; and

WHEREAS, Shelby County Animal Control Personnel and staff work diligently with other organizations to increase the awareness of animal stewardship by placing dogs and cats in loving an nurturing homes.

NOW THEREFORE, I Rob Rothenburger, Shelby County Judge-Executive by virtue of the authority granted this office, do hereby proclaim April 13-19, 2008 as Animal Control Appreciation Week and ask all citizens to join me in recognizing the efforts of the personnel that labor each and every day protecting out community.
