Fiscal Court Approves Renovations for Stratton Community
Center
SHELBYVILLE, KY. At Tuesday night’s Fiscal Court
meeting, Judge-Executive Rob Rothenburger informed the
magistrates that Shelby County had been selected as host
for the Kentucky Association of Economic Development’s (KAED)
Spring Conference.
Anticipating the arrival of over 100 guests, the court
agreed that this was the perfect opportunity to update
the facility in order to meet the needs of the KAED
conference and any potential future conference’s needs.
These updates include, but are not limited to,
installing new energy efficient lighting that will
reduce utility costs and also making several other
cosmetic changes that will be tremendously useful in
attracting other organizations to Shelby County, while
also becoming more aesthetically pleasing for local
residents who utilize the facility.
Denny Bailey, Shelby County Property Maintenance Chief,
said that “The Stratton Center hasn’t had any major
renovations since 1991, and as energy efficiency and
technology have progressed, it’s time to take advantage
of the savings available through installation and these
technological advances.” He further stated that by
2012, the current style of bulb that is used for the
lighting of the Stratton Center, will become obsolete
and no longer be available, requiring new lighting to be
installed in the building in the next year or two.
Rothenburger stated that “The Shelby County Fiscal Court
is extremely excited to be a co-sponsor of this
state-wide event which promises to bring 100-125 people
into our community that will be staying for 2 ½ days and
shopping, eating at local restaurants, and providing our
community with a fantastic tourism opportunity.”
The KAED was formerly
known as the KY Industrial Development Council. This
organization promotes economic and industrial
development in Kentucky. KAED represents a diverse
group of professionals from across the state and works
closely with the KY Chamber of Commerce and the KY
Institute for Economic Development on a local, regional,
and statewide level.
