County Judge-Executive Issues Burn Ban for Shelby County

SHELBYVILLE, KY.  Shelby County Judge-Executive Rob Rothenburger has issued an executive order forbidding any open burning in Shelby County in response to the drought conditions being experienced at this time.

Rothenburger in conjunction with the Shelby County Fire Chiefs have determined that an extreme fire hazard period exists and any open burning may be difficult to control and warrant the use of extraordinary manpower and resources to combat the conflagration.

The ban will remain in effect until Shelby County receives sufficient rainfall to mitigate the fire hazard that exists.
