Recreational Trails Grant Awarded for Red Orchard Park
SHELBYVILLE, KY.
Shelby County Judge-Executive Rob Rothenburger announces
that Shelby County has been awarded a recreational
trails grant in the amount of $50,000.00. The grant was
presented to Judge Rothenburger and Parks and Recreation
Director Clay Cottongim by Governor Steve Beshear on
behalf of the Kentucky Department of Local Government.
The grant will provide
funding to construct a restroom facility at Red Orchard
Park, located on Kentucky Street. Director Clay
Cottongim states, “After two years of working hard on
the recreational trails grant, we are very excited to
receive it and look forward to getting started on the
first grant we have received for Red Orchard Park.”
Judge Rothenburger
states, “We are very excited that Governor Beshear and
the Department of Local Government recognize this
valuable asset in Red Orchard Park. The awarding of
this grant will enable Shelby County to continue to
develop this wonderful treasure for all to share.”
Construction on the
project is scheduled to begin in September 2009.
