Fiscal Court Initiates Zone Change on Two Parcels of
Land
SHELBYVILLE, KY.
Shelby County Fiscal Court unanimously approved the
recommendation from Shelby County Judge-Executive Rob
Rothenburger to initiate a zone change on two parcels of
property located on Joyce Station Road in Shelby County,
Kentucky.
The recommendation to
change from agricultural to I-2 on Parcel #1 contains
154± acres owned
by NorFolk Southern Railroad Company.
The recommendation to
change from agricultural to I-1 on parcel #2 contains 64±
acres owned by Jorita, LLC from Mary Rita Pike.
Rothenburger stated in
his address to fiscal court that pursuant to state
statute and Shelby County Zoning Regulations Article
XIV, a county may initiate a zone change request to
Planning and Zoning for consideration.
Rothenburger further
stated, “The purpose of a zone change initiation is to
provide a strong economic base that fosters employment
opportunities for all Shelby County residents and also
to locate new industries in an area that is adjacent to
existing industry. It is imperative that Shelby County
stay proactive when it comes to having available
industry land for economic development opportunities
that will benefit the community.”
The next step is to
notify Planning and Zoning of fiscal court’s approved
recommendation in order to initiate their process of the
zone change.
