Shelby County Maintenance Department Purchases
Environmentally Friendly Lawn Mower
SHELBYVILLE, KY.
Shelby County Judge-Executive Rob Rothenburger announces
the purchase of an environmentally friendly lawn mower
for the maintenance department in its latest efforts to
go green. The 19” Craftsman Battery Operated Lawn Mower
was purchased at a price of $399.99. The mower boasts
the release of no emissions into the atmosphere and
requires no gas or oil for operation. The battery
operated machine inhibits one hour mowing capacity. It
also has the capability to bag its own grass that will
later be composted.
The energy efficient
mower meets the standards of the maintenance
department. Shelby County Maintenance Chief Denny
Bailey states, “I’m impressed with the new lawn mowers
cutting ability and the amount of cutting we’re capable
of getting with a single charge. We’re able to mow
several of the county buildings lawns before a charge is
needed.”
The battery powered
lawn mower is a step in the right direction for the
Shelby County Maintenance Department in an effort to
preserve the environment, while still completing the
necessary mowing in an efficient and timely manner.
