Fiscal Court to Purchase Four New Ambulances
August 9, 2009
SHELBYVILLE, KY. Shelby County Judge-Executive announced
that the Fiscal Court has approved by a vote of 6-2 to
purchase four new ambulances for the Emergency Medical
Services (EMS).
Rothenburger stated that “this is an excellent opportunity
and significant savings by purchasing the ambulances at this
time, first, by buying in a mass quantity the County was
able to get $2500 off each unit, second, a one time
government discount of $5200 is applied ,third, an estimated
$20,000 savings is realized in maintenance and repair
annually and last, by purchasing today, we are able to lock
in the price avoiding a price hike or increase over the next
48 months.”
The total cost of the four new ambulances is $437,156.00
which will be spread over 4 year period by way of a loan
procured through the Kentucky Association of Counties.
Shelby County EMS operates out of three locations throughout
Shelby County and have four full time crews assigned to the
areas with 24 hour coverage that respond to more than 6000
calls to service on an yearly average
