County Receives Grant for Finchville Park Recreational
Trails
SHELBYVILLE,KY. Shelby County
Judge-Executive Rob Rothenburger announced that Governor
Ernie Fletcher has selected Shelby County to receive a grant
in the amount of $36,310 for recreational trails in the
Finchville Park.
The 8
feet wide asphalt trail once completed will be approximately
one mile long and trace the perimeter of the park and will
also include an asphalt parking area capable of handling 30
vehicles to accommodate walkers and bicycle enthusiasts.
“Health
and Fitness is paramount to our community and we hope that
with the addition of the walking and biking trail, that
everyone will take advantage of this or any of the walking
trails offered by the Shelby County Parks and Recreation
Department” stated Rothenburger.
According to Parks and Recreational Director Clay Cottongim,
he “anticipates that the project could begin as early as the fall of this year with completion in the first part of
2008, just in time for walkers and bikers to enjoy the
arrival of spring.
