Commonwealth Cleanup Week
March 21st -27th, 2010
SHELBYVILLE, KY.
Commonwealth Cleanup Week is an annual week-long event
implemented by the Energy and Environment Cabinet which
kicks off the Great American Cleanup. The focus of this
event is to clean up littered roadsides and illegal
dumps throughout each community.
Individuals and civic
groups are encouraged to participate in this event in an
effort to improve the beauty and environmental health of
our county and our state. This event is a great
opportunity to complete a community service project for
scouts, school and civic clubs, churches and
neighborhood associations.
Civic, religious, and
any nonprofit organizations can enter to win six
separate $100 cash prizes through the state for
participation. Groups must register and complete a
clean up project to be entered in the prize drawing.
The random drawing will be in May.
For more information,
entry forms and litter bags contact Clean Community
Coordinator Kathy Ranard (see information below). All
forms must be submitted to the Clean Community Office by
April 23, 2010 to be entered in the state contest.
