Open Wednesday
through Saturday from 6:30 am to 4:59 pm. All solid waste from
residents of Shelby County is accepted. Asbestos, chemicals,
or ash any type of burning is
not accepted.
Accepted Materials:
All metals, motor oil in 2 gallon containers or smaller, batteries,
antifreeze, appliances, yard waste, cardboard (must be flattened),
newspaper (must be bundled, plastics (soft drink bottles, detergent
bottles, milk bottles), steel cans, aluminum cans, junk mail.
*Free compost and mulch are
available at the convenience center.

Open Tuesday through Saturday
from 8:00 am to 4:20 pm. The following items are accepted at
the Shelby County Recycling Center: Newspapers (please bag or
tie in bundles), aluminum cans (no foil or foil products), steel
cans (please rinse well), plastics*, corrugated cardboard (must be
flattened), office paper** (please bundle or bag), mixed paper
(junk mail, magazines, books, and packaging paper), glass - brown,
clear, & green (food or beverage glass only), ink jets and toner
cartridges, packing peanuts, cell phones.
* - Only 1 (PET) and 2 (HDPE)
plastic containers are accepted. Some acceptable plastics are:
soft drink bottles, water bottles, milk bottles, laundry detergent
bottles, shampoo bottles, and margarine tubs. Please rinse and
throw away tops.
** - We will accept computer
paper, notebook paper, and typing paper. We will not accept
NCR (the paper that makes its own copy).
ALL ITEMS MUST
BE SEPARATED!
